Democrats give U.S. impeachment for Christmas .. and it's the gift that keeps on giving

With the TV cameras focused on the impeachment of President Trump ahead of its inevitable failure, some of the savvier swamp journalists have cast a sidelong glance at how the Trump campaign is doing. At least two of them could only see a helluva strong campaign.

Here's Jonathan Swan and Margaret Talev at Axios:

President Trump's re-election campaign wields more money, staff, infrastructure and advanced digital operations than the Democratic competitors — and a fan base that hears "impeachment" as a rallying cry.

Here's Maggie Haberman & Co. at the New York Times:

And while Mr. Trump himself has rued the fact that impeachment might tarnish his legacy, his top political advisers presented the unfolding proceeding as nothing but a boost to the campaign in every metric it measures, from volunteer recruitment to small-dollar donations.

“It lit up our base,” Mr. [Brad] Parscale said. “They see their vote is trying to be stolen from the 2016 election.” He added that impeachment meant that it took “less advertising” to fill up the stadiums where Mr. Trump holds rallies, and that it “puts money in our bank and adds volunteers to our field program.”

Axios had a good list of "takeaways" from the briefing, which included:

  • the smart move to purge state organizations of #NeverTrump clowns in leadership positions
  • a focus on "tiny" counties in the flyover disdained by leftists
  • which includes a plan to win Minnesota this time
  • a plan to encourage voters who sat home in the midterms because Trump's name wasn't on the ballot
  • a plan to win the black and Latino vote
  • a savvy use of impeachment to sell campaign merchandise and motivate voters
  • a plan to use tech techniques to capture data from rallies and another plan to turn every Trump rally into "a four or five day event" in the locations where they happen.

Both reports said the Trump campaign was swimming in money, nearly a hundred million dollars, most of it from those low-dollar donors Democrats otherwise claim that they "own."

President Trump Announces China Trade Deal, Phase One

There are multiple interests, nuances in details, a completely overlooked big picture, and the financial pundits are flummoxed.

Click - ANALYSIS - Loe Dobbs

CTH has followed the granular details over several years. In advance of a “phase one” announcement we noted a necessary paradigm shift needed to understand most of the dynamics at play [SEE HERE]. It is all going according to a very visible plan.  President Trump tweets:

China has agreed to a $40 billion agricultural purchase from the U.S. In exchange for that purchase President Trump will be maintaining the full 25 percent tariffs on approximately $250 billion of Chinese imports and reducing to 7.5 percent (from current 15%) the tariffs on approximately $120 billion of Chinese imports.

Economically in the deal, President Trump gains a net $40 billion for U.S. farmers; and gives up $9 billion in tariffs. That’s it.

From that point everything, including any other possible trade agreement (phase 2, 3 etc.), is contingent on Beijing complying with their promises. Beijing has agreed to allow U.S. banks access to their financial markets, reform their behavior on IP theft, stop the forced transfer of technology and, according to their *promises*, allow exclusive ownership of U.S. businesses within China. These are the non-tariff issues.  However, these are *promises*, and Trump/Lighthizer are well aware Beijing lies as a competitive strategy.  Hence, the tariff hammer remains.

This is where the U.S. reviewer paradigm shift is needed.  Remember: “There is no actual intent to reach a trade deal with China where the U.S. drops the tariffs and returns to holding hands with a happy panda playing by new rules. This fictional narrative is a figment of fantasy being sold by a financial media that cannot fathom a U.S. President would be so bold as to just walk away from China.”

President Trump doesn’t necessarily want China to comply with Western perspectives on free, fair and reciprocal trade. The goal of decoupling the U.S. from China is easier if U.S. companies are abused by China.  In the bigger picture President Trump wants the U.S. companies to leave.

The decoupling is already underway, and President Trump is creating new supply chains and manufacturing opportunities within the USMCA.  Business reform in China actually works against these objectives. Based on history China won’t reform, Trump knows that, and everything over the past three years has been a set of parallel objectives. Provide Beijing the opportunity to reform and stop their manipulative practices… BUT plan for them to do nothing.

Make England Great Again

BORIS WINS BIG

President Trump congratulated Prime Minister Boris Johnson on his great win in the U.K. election, noting the possibilities for a big trade boost are “massive”.

Not accidentally, the geopolitical economic and trade planets have aligned splendidly. The cornerstone USMCA agreement has bipartisan support and will ratify quickly in congress.  A “phase one” trade agreement with China is likely, and prior plans for a strategic trade deal with the U.K. have increased as a result of the U.K. election.

The Conservative Party has crushed Labour

Tories are expected to win the largest victory for the Conservative Party since 1987 – which were the glory days of Margaret Thatcher. This comes after PM Boris Johnson was endorsed wholeheartedly by President Donald Trump, and the two men have embarked on a close friendship that has dominated headlines.

“We have a really good man who’s going to be the prime minister of the UK now,” Trump said after Johnson became PM. “He’s tough and he’s smart. They’re saying, ‘Britain Trump’. They call him ‘Britain Trump’ and people are saying that’s a good thing.”

“They like me over there. That’s what they wanted. That’s what they need. He’ll get it done. Boris is good. He’s gonna do a good job.”

Trump Rally in Hershey, Pa. Huge crowd braves a cold rain to support their president

Trump voters started lining up in Hershey before dawn. They came from all over the country .. As House Democrats on Tuesday morning charged President Donald Trump with two articles of impeachment for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, his supporters called the political moves “a sham,” “a joke” and “a disgrace to the nation.”

Elaine Hawkins and Wayne Holland traveled from Delaware to support the president. The impeachment has only increased their support, they said. ”It’s a farce,” Holland said. “There’s no foundation for the impeachment. They’ve been on his case since he was elected, and they never give up.”

Hawkins said she was a Democrat her entire life, but she voted Republican in 2016 because of Trump. “Democrats used to be for the small person and helping the poor, but they haven’t done a damn thing. I supported Trump because I thought he would actually do something and he has."

"This was an overthrow of government. This was an attempted overthrow."

THE PRESIDENT: The IG report just came out, and I was just briefed on it, and it’s a disgrace what’s happened with respect to the things that were done to our country. It should never again happen to another President. It is incredible. Far worse than I would have ever thought possible. And it’s — it’s an embarrassment to our country. It’s dishonest. It’s everything that a lot of people thought it would be, except far worse.

THE PRESIDENT: What they were doing and what they would have done if I didn’t make a certain move — a certain move that was a very important move because it would have been even worse, if that’s possible. And they might have been able to succeed.

This was an overthrow of government. This was an attempted overthrow. And a lot of people who were in on it, and they got caught. They got caught red-handed. And I look forward to the Durham report, which is coming out in the not-too-distant future. It’s got its own information, which is this information plus, plus, plus.

And it’s an incredible thing that happened, and we’re lucky we caught them. I think I’m going to put this down as one of our great achievements. Because what we found and what we saw never, ever should this happen again in our country.

Attorney General Bill Barr Statement Following IG Review: “A clear abuse of FISA process”…

"The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken.  It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory.  Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trump’s administration.

In the rush to obtain and maintain FISA surveillance of Trump campaign associates, FBI officials misled the FISA court, omitted critical exculpatory facts from their filings, and suppressed or ignored information negating the reliability of their principal source.

The Inspector General found the explanations given for these actions unsatisfactory.  While most of the misconduct identified by the Inspector General was committed in 2016 and 2017 by a small group of now-former FBI officials, the malfeasance and misfeasance detailed in the Inspector General’s report reflects a clear abuse of the FISA process"

U.S. Attorney John Durham Does Not Agree With IG Horowitz Conclusions…

“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff.  However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department.

Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.  Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened." Today the Dept. of Justice Office of Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, will release the much anticipated report covering a 21-month review of FBI and DOJ compliance with legal requirements surrounding FISA and the application against U.S. person Carter Page.

The report is rumored to be well over 600 pages.  It will BE RELEASED HERE.

Things to keep in mind…

  • First, with a volume of text over 600 pages, and potentially as high as 1,000 pages, there is no immediate analysis you will find in the media today based on a review of the report.  The report is simply too long to read, review and outline today.
  • Therefore all of the MSM journalists will likely be reporting from pre-written talking points distributed by officials with a vested interest in shaping opinion of the report immediately upon release.
  • From my own experience, even after several days very few journalists will have actually even read the full report; they will instead be working from selected segments of the report as outlined by others.
  • It is strongly suggested you read the report for yourself, draw your own conclusions, and don’t rely on what could be sections taken out of context.  Obviously crowdsourcing the report is one of the fastest ways to absorb information in a discussion thread.
  • Secondly, keep in mind while the IG review began in March 2018 the Mueller investigation almost certainly kept many aspects of the material shielded from IG inquiry until the special counsel investigation ended.  Indeed as we have seen from other material delayed throughout 2018, up to March 2019 when the Mueller probe ended, many documents were hidden (likely intentionally) by the special counsel.  So a full unimpeded IG review likely did not begin until after the Mueller investigation concluded. Hence, some delays.

November Jobs Report: A blue-collar, middle-class Trump BOOM

"Our economy is the envy of the world, and we’re going to keep it that way."

We’re the envy of the world. Our economy is the envy of the world, and we’re going to keep it that way. So that’s very important.
