Ron DeSantis is America’s awesome ‘shadow president’

In the Westminster parliamentary system of government, used in Britain and elsewhere, the opposition forms a shadow cabinet: A group of senior opposition-party members takes responsibility for issues facing various government departments. So there might be a shadow defense minister, who focuses on military issues, and the group might put together a “shadow budget.”

None of these activities has any direct impact on the actual Cabinet; the shadow government has no executive power. But it does provide a contrast to the ruling government. It also cultivates people with some expertise, ready to take over the various offices when political power shifts.

America doesn’t use this system, but in a very real way we nonetheless have a shadow president in DeSantis.

Unlike a British shadow government, DeSantis has real executive power of his own — not in the federal government, but in his capacity as governor of America’s third most populous state. And he has been doing an excellent job of drawing contrasts between his way and the approach taken by the Biden-Harris administration.

Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) will no doubt try hard to take DeSantis down. But the more attention they focus on him, the more he will stand as a shadow president, showing Americans what someone else might do in Biden’s place.

Ron DeSantis and 25 other Republican governors send demand to Biden: "Take action to protect America"

26 state governors on Monday 9/20 demanded a meeting with President Biden about the southern border crisis. “A crisis that began at our southern border now extends beyond to every state and requires immediate action before the situation worsens,” the group wrote.

“While governors are doing what we can, our Constitution requires that the President must faithfully execute the immigration laws passed by Congress. Not only has the federal government created a crisis, it has left our states to deal with challenges that only the federal government has a duty to solve.” More

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas met privately with Border Patrol agents in Texas (link) and said in leaked audio that the border crisis is "unsustainable" and "we're going to lose" if "borders are the first line of defense."

"A couple of days ago I was down in Mexico, and I said look, you know, if, if our borders are the first line of defense, we're going to lose and this is unsustainable," Mayorkas said Thursday, according to the audio obtained by Fox News' Bill Melugin through a Border Patrol source.

  • "We can't continue like this, our people in the field cant continue and our system isn't built for it."

Political Retribution: Joe Biden moves to control Monoclonal Antibody (mAb) inventories.

On Monday, September 13, the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services transitioned from a direct ordering process (of mAb inventory) to a state/territory distribution system - LINK

As the administration of Joe Biden steps in to take control over Monoclonal Antibody (mAb) inventories and distribution, blocks red states from receiving the treatment, and makes grand pronouncements about controlling supply based on “equity”, the cowed White House press corps sits silently .. except for Newsmax reporter Emerald Robinson

WATCH Jennifer Psaki lie, twist, obfuscate and manipulate the discussion in an attempt to defend an indefensible position when questioned by Robinson about Biden’s recent moves to punish Florida:

Keep in mind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was initially blasted by progressives, the media writ large and the White House for his support of Monoclonal Antibody treatment. As soon as they noticed the approach was working, HHS moved to block the DeSantis mAb program by taking control of the inventory.

On Thurs. 9/16, Gov. DeSantis responds directly to the White House effort to kill Florida residents by withholding previously agreed shipments of Monoclonal Antibodies. WATCH

DeSantis outlined the issues Florida is facing after the Biden administration instructed the federal offices of HHS to punish the successful therapy and recovery efforts of the sunshine state healthcare system. He outlines the purchase agreement that Biden intentionally violated and also the issues created by the federal government now blocking direct purchasing of treatment from the manufacturer.

Additionally, the governor noted he has held meetings with ¹GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to purchase mAb shipments directly from the second source manufacturer in order to work around the roadblocks being presented by the Biden administration.  Gov. DeSantis reaffirmed his commitment to stand in the way, and not allow Joe Biden to kill Americans just because he doesn’t like their politics.

“He’s basically taking Article Two of the Constitution under his own wing and did not do proper service to the President of the United States,” Gen. Kellogg said. From Fox News:

Former Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, who led the Pentagon from the period after the 2020 election through Inauguration Day, said that he “did not and would not ever authorize” Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley to have “secret” calls with his Chinese counterpart, describing the allegations as a “disgraceful and unprecedented act of insubordination,” and calling on him to resign “immediately.”

In a statement to Fox News, Miller said that the United States Armed Forces, from its inception, has “operated under the inviolable principle of civilian control of the military.”

“The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the highest-ranking military officer whose sole role is providing military-specific advice to the president, and by law is prohibited from exercising executive authority to command forces,” Miller said. “The chain of command runs from the President to the Secretary of Defense, not through the Chairman.” MORE

Joe Biden, Democrats Think They Rule Over U.S.

-- Government agencies mandating vaccines violates Florida law

Cities, Counties That Require Employees to Get Vaxxed will Be Fined $5,000 Per Infraction

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday fought back against Joe Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandates. DeSantis announced cities and counties that force employees to get vaccinated will be fined $5,000 per infraction.

“We are here today to make it very clear that we are going to stand for the men and women who are serving. We are going to protect Florida jobs,” DeSantis said during the news conference. “We are not gonna let people be fired because of a vaccine mandate.”

DeSantis also spoke about natural immunity and how it offers more protection against Covid variants, citing the study out of Israel. MORE

During his most recent detestable address, Joe Biden said, “If these governors won’t help us beat the pandemic, I’ll use my power as president to get them out of the way.”

Clearly, he was targeting Governor DeSantis, who was asked about the threat ..

On Sept. 10 DeSantis’ legal team won a victory in appeals court.

One day after a state judge ruled against a ban on school mask policies, a Florida court has reinstated the stay, upholding Gov. Ron DeSantis’ ban preventing rules requiring face coverings from being implemented in schools across the state. MORE

9.11

"I grew up with you, and you are New York's finest."

President Trump stopped at police and fire stations in honor of first-responders’ heroic effort 20 years ago rescuing victims of the terror attack on the World Trade Center.

"It’s a sad day. It’s a very sad day for a lot of reasons, and we just added to that reason last week. It  should never have happened. We’re going to have to live with that for a period of time."

The stirring response of Americans everywhere to the 9/11 terror attacks is a reminder of what the country used to be .. and can be again.

The city’s firefighters rushed headlong into those burning buildings388 of them gave up their lives in doing so. As terrible as their loss was, we must never forget how successful the rescuers actually were. Nearly 30,000 people escaped before the towers fell.
.
Of their valor and sacrifice, Victor Davis Hanson wrote
In the tradition of all great American armies in battle, officers—47 lieutenants, 20 captains, and 21 chiefs—died alongside the rank and file, heroic death requiring no prerequisite of class or color. Indeed, the magnitude of the terrorist-inflicted disaster rivaled that of a fierce battle, where the enemy overruns and annihilates an entire military unit—paramedics, a fire marshal, even the fire department's chaplain were engulfed.
Thousands of mourners packed churches as the bodies were laid to rest in one transfixing funeral after another. Impromptu memorials to these heroes sprang up around New York, featuring photos of the dead, flowers, messages, and always—American flags.

Seen from today’s perspective, the months and years after 9/11 seem to belong more to an old America than a new one. The question is whether that America of heroic cops and patriotic songs, of ordinary Americans rolling up their sleeves, is gone forever or poised for a comeback.

Is the old America really still out there, waiting to come out of hiding? If so, then this 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks—evoking, as it will, memories of how New Yorkers and their countrymen responded—would be a good time to reemerge. MORE
